2024 TWI Seafood Cocktail Party

On Sunday, June 30, despite a persistent rain and mist, 60 members and friends (including Board members and helpers) attended the 2024 edition of TWI's annual Seafood Cocktail Party. The event was hosted again this year by Marilyn and Denys Wortman at their Hines Point home, with a spectacular view of the harbor and Lagoon (and the approaching storm clouds). See photos below.

TWI President Melinda Loberg briefed guests on TWI's work, and Sandy Cannon-Brown updated guests on the development of a new film, featuring the pesky green crab. Although crowded onto the Wortman’s porch, guests enjoyed the informal conversation and feasted on seafood dishes prepared by Board Members.

For the 2nd year, a silent auction featured 18 holes of golf at Mink Meadows Golf Course donated by Mink Meadows Association President Joe Fitzgerald.

As a special guest, TWI welcomed one of the 2024 recipients of its environmental scholarship, Maria Sanchez Roa (UMass Amherst). Past scholarship recipient, Owen Porterfield, was also there to help out.

TWI thanks Sally and Joe Fitzgerald, Morrice Florist, Jim's Package Store, Island Source, Offshore Ale and Net Result for supporting our celebration. Also, in addition to Owen, TWI thanks Liz DaSilva, Jenny Marlin and Julie Pringle for helping in the kitchen and serving food.

Finally, a very, very special “Thank You” to the Wortman’s, who have offered their lawn, porch, and kitchen to TWI for this event for many many years. Now it’s time for TWI to move on, and let Denys and Marilyn relax on the last Sunday of June.
